Ideally you will want to keep your eyes closed for 2 to 4 hours. Thus taking a nap and wearing your clear plastic shields, will assist with the process. After 2-4 hours, remove the plastic shields and begin using your eye lubricants to keep your eyes comfortable and moist (or as directed by your surgeon).
Avoid any rubbing, squeezing or touching your eyes, since the
flaps over your eyes are still sensitive. If your eyes become
dry or irritated, just use your preservative-free artificial
tears.
LASIK surgeons recommend resting for the first 24 hours
following your surgery. So avoid reading, computer work,
strenuous activity, and television.
1 Day after LASIK Treatment
Give your eyes proper rest and limit yourself and your eyes from
strenuous activities. Because natural dust and dirt are in the
environment, avoid gardening or any activity that may perpetuate
this. Also lotion, cream and eye make should be avoided for
about 7 days as an additional precaution.
1 Week after LASIK Treatment
After your treatment exercise can be resumed.
However,
use eye
protection, to avoid any rubbing or contact with your eyes. You
may want to avoid contact sports, swimming, and hot tubs. Keeping your eyes well lubricated will assist with the post
surgery process. To avoid any irritation with your new natural eyes -- avoid
using lotions, creams and eye makeup, unless your doctor advises
differently.
3 Weeks after LASIK Treatment
Amazingly, wIthin 3 weeks after laser vision correction,
strenuous activities and contact sports can be resumed with eye
protection, including swimming. Lawn mowing and other outdoor activities can amazingly be
resumed. Continue to take great care with your eyes and protect
them accordingly.
3-6 Months After LASIK Treatment
As your vision is healing, your vision may fluctuate day to day.
This is typical with laser correction and you should not be
alarmed.
To continue with the best patient care possible, we request that you attend all your post-operative evaluations, as scheduled by your surgeon. Your laser surgeon will keep track of your progress and follow-up with you as needed. Also, remember to ask about our Life Time Assurance Plans.
Contact your surgeon if you develop any unusual symptoms, if you experience severe pain or the unlikely event of your vision beginning to get worse instead of better.
