I recently had Lasik with CustomVue done with Dr.
Kraff and thus far the results are phenomenal. I experienced
some tearing afterward but after a short nap I literally had
20/20 vision.
How much does it cost? PRK and Lasik are$2,400.00 per eye.
Inrtralase the less painful form of Lasik is an extra $400.00
per eye as is CustomVue.
What is Customvue? Think of general Lasik as a one size fits all
approach. Your vision may be corrected but it may not be
specific. Customvue targets each individuals specific needs. I
compare it to buying eyeglasses at say a place like Lenscrafters.
A person pays a base amount for an exam and frames, then to not
have coke bottle glasses, they pay extra for light weight
lenses, scratch coating, UV protection etc. Buying eyeglasses
can be an expensive temporary fix, the total cost of having
lasik with customvue may be hefty but it is a longer more
worthwhile investment.
The only downside is that you have to pay the whole cost upfront
before surgery. If you don't have the funds available you can
apply beforehand for financing from Care Credit. My total with
Intralase and Customvue was $6,400. I decided to check the Kraff
Institute out because of the great reviews on Yelp. They asked
me how I "found out" about them. I told them Yelp. Because of
that I got $800 knocked off my bill, bringing my total cost to
$5,600. The total cost includes pre-operative measurements,
post-operative care for one year and any re-treatments if
necessary for two years. Consultations are free.
Dr. Kraff's interpersonal skills are professional and to the
point. This is important when you you are choosing to have
someone work on something so precious as your vision. If you are
a person that needs that personal connection and hopes to walk
away with a warm and fuzzy experience from the staff including
Dr. Kraff this might not be the place for you. You will however
have the warm and fuzzy pay off when you walk away with pristine
vision.
Dr. Kraff is well known and highly respected. Check out the
website for more details. If he has done Mancow's eyes, and
several of the Bear's players, why wouldn't I trust him with
mine?
Deciding to finally get Lasik done and choosing Dr. Kraff was
one of the best decisions I've made to date.
